EBLEX, a division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, has launched a marketing tool for the meat industry that grants chefs and caterers access to beef and lamb images for use in promoting their business.

The organisation has developed an extensive image library for the use of chefs and caterers, who can use the pictures on advertising material and websites to promote their restaurants or companies. Users will have access to a variety of high quality lamb and beef related images.

The image library has been designed to be easy to use, and features pictures that come in three categories; ‘Raw’ ‘Cooked’ and ‘Landscape’. With the first two being self-explanatory, the Landscape section offers pictures of the animals in their environment outside. Chefs are able to use them to improve the aesthetics of their websites or posters, without going to the trouble of tracking down images themselves.

Huge demand

The images come in both high-resolution, which is better for print marketing products such as posters and leaflets, and low-resolution, which works in digital formats such as websites.

Business development manager for EBLEX Dick van Leeuwen said: “There is huge demand from retailers, catering butchers and chefs for high-quality beef and lamb- related images and, thanks to the introduction of our image library, they are now able to access them in a quick and convenient way.”

The library is available at any time of day and images can be downloaded instantly, which may appeal to chefs and caterers who work long hours and different shifts. Those in the industry have to register to use the images, and once this is completed they can start using it right away. There are varying levels of access to the library so members of the EBLEX Quality Standard Mark Scheme can access over 550 images and non-members will be able to access around 300 images.

EBLEX is planning to roll out a number of digital marketing initiatives that could be of use to the hospitality industry, presenting chefs and caterers with alternative means of advertising their businesses.

“The image library is just one of a number of exciting and innovative online initiatives planned for this year which are aimed at adding value to businesses throughout the retail and foodservice supply chains for beef and lamb,” explained van Leeuwen. “The EBLEX point-of-sale hub is another initiative which will be available soon. It will enable users to create their own posters and cabinet cards.”

Businesses can register to use the image library by visiting www.eblextrade.co.uk.
