The site, an abandoned Citroen garage in Islington’s Upper Street, has been used to host pop-up events in recent years, and will be the company’s first London opening since MeatMission in December 2012.
The new restaurant will be spread across an old garage, workshops, offices and storerooms, with a cellar and basement, and will have outdoor seating for 40 people. It is due to open in the summer of 2015.
Collins and Papoutsis said: “We never expected to open in Islington’s Upper Street, the property came to us and it was something we couldn’t turn down, we hope to do it proud.”
MeatLiquor is opening a site in Leeds this September, which will be followed by another venue in Bristol.
The firm recently acquired fried chicken restaurant Wishbone in Brixton, with views to open a second site under that name later this year.
