A recent Marine Stewardship Council survey found that 61 per cent of UK consumers think it is important that restaurants display sustainability information for seafood dishes, though only 6 per cent said they had ever seen seafood ecolabels on menus.

Appetite for sustainable seafood products seems to be growing, and consumers said they trusted ecolabels (61 per cent) more than friends' recommendations (57 per cent), information from supermarkets (48 per cent) and the brand’s own promise on products (41 per cent) to determine the sustainability of a product.
