Accor has announced plans to expand its budget ibis brand in the UK with seven new hotel openings.

Four ibis Styles hotels will be opened this year under a franchise agreement with Carillion plc including a 117-bedroom hotel in Barnsley, a 166-bedroom hotel at Birmingham NEC, a 112-bedroom hotel in Crewe and a 102-bedroom hotel in Haydock. They will be operated by Kew Green Hotels.

Two further ibis Styles hotels will open in 2016. A 47-bedroom hotel in Greenwich will open under a franchise agreement with Conquerer Holdings Ltd in the first part of the year, followed by a 140-bedroom hotel at London Heathrow Airport under a franchise agreement with Acre Heathrow Ltd in the summer.

Accor will also open the ibis London Canning Town, a 196-bedroom hotel situated within the Hallsville Quarter development, as part of the Canning Town and Custom House regeneration programme.

Thomas Dubaere, managing director for Accor UK & Ireland, said: “These new ibis and ibis Styles hotels signal our ambition to strengthen the ibis brands in the UK. The franchise deal for Crewe, Barnsley, Haydock, Birmingham and Greenwich not only reflects the strength of the ibis Styles brand, but recognises our excellent position as a franchise partner. These new signings are in line with our ongoing strategy to grow our economy offering.”
