Eden Bar in Manchester's Gay Village has closed leading to the loss of 18 jobs.

Insolvency practitioner Steven Wineglass of Inquesta, appointed liquidator of its owner SDB Bars, said the restaurant and bar on Brazil Street had suffered from a downturn in trade after it was 'virtually marooned' by an adjacent building site.

Eden Bar, which also had a barge moored on the Rochdale Canal, served drinks and food all day with an emphasis on using local, seasonal produce. It opened in 2002 with SDB Bars taking it over in 2012.

Wiseglass said: “It is unfortunate that SDB Bars could not continue trading, and sadly there have been 18 redundancies as a result of the closure of Eden Bar.”
