Hospitality businesses are being encouraged to enter The VQ Employer of the Year Award 2015, which recognises the promotion of the value of vocational qualifications in the workplace.

The awards form part of VQ Day (10 June 2015), which was established by the Edge Foundation in 2008 to raise the status of technical and practical learning and celebrate vocational achievement.

There will be two categories for the employer’s award, SME (1 – 249 employees) and Large Employers (250+ employees).

Businesses are also encouraged to nominate outstanding employees for the national VQ Learner of the Year Award.

“It is imperative that vocational qualifications are valued equally alongside other traditional academic qualifications,” said Jan Hodges OBE, CEO of the Edge Foundation,.

“VQ Day is an opportunity to celebrate vocational achievement. Employers play an integral role in the growth and development of vocational excellence through their commitment to employing and training graduates with a broad spectrum of qualifications and experience.

"The VQ Employer and Learner of the Year Awards enable us to acknowledge the contribution of UK employers and applaud those learners who are helping to drive the UK economy forward.”

Nominations will be judged by a panel and the winners will be presented with their awards at a ceremony on the 9 June in London.

The deadline for submissions for both the VQ Learner and Employer of the Year Awards is 1 May 2015. To find out more information and how to enter, visit: www.vqday.org.uk/vq-awards.
