Five-star York hotel to undergo £15m redevelopment

Plans for The Grand Hotel & Spa have been submitted by Splendid Hospitality Group following their purchase of the former Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa in 2014.
The new restaurant, which follows the launch of the Hudsons and HQ restaurant concepts at the hotel last year, will be developed in the existing outside terrace dining space.
Splendid Hospitality Group have also purchased the adjacent Roman House with plans to re-develop it as a new wing of the existing hotel.
“The Grand Hotel & Spa has been a great success story for the City of York but now we are entering a new, even more exciting chapter. A larger hotel will require more staff to look after more guests and we are hopeful that many of these will be recruited from the locality,” said general manager Maria Florou.
Work on the restaurant is slated to start before the end of the year, with the development of Roman House following shortly after.
Splendid Hospitality also owns Express by Holiday Inn in York and will be opening a 101-room Hotel Indigo in the city this summer.
