Hospitality and tourism businesses were honored at the 2015 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence last night (11 May).

The successful companies, including hotels and restaurants, were chosen from 345 entries by a panel of industry experts and presented with their awards at a ceremony at the Sage Gateshead conference venue.

A special award for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism was awarded to ‘the chefs of England’, honouring the positive impact of the growing ‘foodie’ reputation of England on the tourist industry. The award was accepted by Hrishikesh Desai, winner of the BBC two series Chefs on Trial.

VisitEngland Chairman, Lady Cobham CBE, said: “The competition is of an increasingly high standard and so I offer my sincere congratulations to all our winners on this tremendous achievement."
