International hotel group Accor has announced plans to open two further sites under its Mecure and ibis Style brands in Derby and Leeds.

The company’s expansion plans follow its record financial performance in 2014 which saw net profits rise 77 per cent year-on-year.

Mecure Derby

The 100-room Mecure Derby will open near the Derbyshire County Cricket Ground at the end of the year.

It will be Accor’s fifth Mecure launch in franchise with London Town Hotels Group, following successful partnerships in Nottingham, London Kensington, London Paddington, and London Hyde Park.

The Derby site will be the 75th UK site for the four-star hotel brand, joining 711 Mercure hotels worldwide.

Ibis Style Leeds

Ibis Style Leeds Merrion Centre will be a 134-room new build hotel. The site will open in 2016 and operate under a franchise agreement with Town Centre Securities PLC.

The site will be Accor’s eighth opening under the ibis budget brand over the next two years. Accor currently operates 92 ibis hotels across the UK, and 1738 worldwide.

Thomas Dubaere, managing director Accor UK and Ireland, said: “We are pleased to announce these new hotel signings which prove the attractiveness of our brands to franchise partners. Our ambitious expansion plans demonstrate our commitment to strengthening the portfolio across our budget and midscale brand segments.”
