Jessica Simmons, former chef at Angela Hartnett’s Murano and Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room, is to open a new beer and steakhouse restaurant in Kentish Town.

Beef & Brew is the brainchild of Simmons and business partner Daniel Nathan, who previously worked with the chef on meat-based pop-up Featherblade, and will embrace cheaper cuts such as rumps, flat irons and onglets.

Dishes will include Salt Brisket served with Leeks and Mustard Cream, and a gravy and cheese soaked short rib ‘French Dip’ bun.

Lemonade Soaked Aubergine Chips and Duck Hearts with Devilled Mayo can be ordered as sides or small plates, alongside Simmons’ take on the classic Mac ’n’ Cheese – Gnocchi ‘n’ Cheese with Jalepenos.

Diners will also be able to select beer and food pairings from a selection of local craft ales and draft house beer.

Nathan said: “Jess and I share a love of quality, unpretentious food and Beef & Brew will reflect that. The most important thing is that we’ll have a classically trained chef, dedicating herself to the simple and indulgent.”

Beef & Brew will open in Kentish Town in September.
