PubAid has announced an attempt to break the world record for the world’s largest pub quiz across multiple venues.

The event, which takes place in February 2016, will be hosted in partnership with online fundraising platform JustGiving.

Co-founder of PubAid, Keith Knowles, said that it would bring the industry together.

“We came up with the idea as a way of not only recognising the great work that UK pubs do for charity in raising over £100m a year, but we thought it would be a great idea to bring the industry together one night and share the world record attempt. By partnering with a consumer facing brand like JustGiving, we’re able to take our message to the public more effectively and also work alongside their team to help pubs use their technology to raise funds for good causes,” he said.

“We’re delighted to be joining JustGiving in this partnership, their enthusiasm and recognition of the role UK pubs play in fundraising is fantastic and I’m confident when the industry hear about this, we’ll get a great uptake.”

Anne-Marie Huby, managing director and co-founder of JustGiving, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with PubAid to help pubs across the UK raise money for great causes. The British Pub is an institution that is perfectly placed to galvanise communities to come together to do good.

“We have recently launched JustGiving Crowdfunding, which allows people to raise funds for projects at the community level – we are excited about connecting that offering to pubs, which often sit at the heart of a community.”
