Fifteen teams of professional pastry chefs will feature in a spin-off series of popular TV series Great British Bake Off next year.

Bake Off: Creme de la Creme will be presented by Tom Kerridge and will be aired on BBC Two.

Benoit Blin of Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Cherish Finden, executive pastry chef at The Langham and Claire Clark have been named as judges for the show which will see teams of three pastry chefs from hotels, restaurants, patisseries and development kitchens compete to produce showpiece desserts and 'impressive miniatures'

The eight-part series, produced by Love Productions, will aim to 'showcase and celebrate the elite from the world of professional pastry' with the winner being the team who displays 'the precision of surgeons, the knowledge of chemists and the creativity of artists'.

The popularity of TV show Great British Bake Off, approaching its seventh series, has been said to help inspire a new generation of pastry chefs with more students enrolling on college and university courses in the area since the show started.

Bake Off: Crème De La Crème starts 29 March at 8pm on BBC Two.
