St. James’s Hotels opening boutique hotel in Bath

St. James’s Hotel Group has announced that it is to begin work early in the New Year on a new 117-bedroom boutique hotel in Bath, Somerset.

Hotel Indigo Bath will aim to open in Spring 2017 and will operate under a franchise agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), and St. James’s, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Somerston Group.

The hotel is being created through a ‘comprehensive’ refurbishment of a number of Grade 1-listed, Georgian buildings in South Parade. Properties involved in the renovation include Pratt’s Hotel, The Halcyon and a neighbouring building.

Pratt’s Hotel will close temporarily from 4 January and the Halcyon will follow suit later in the month.

The closures will result in 36 redundancies and will create 60 new jobs.

Shaun Robinson, managing director of St. James’s, said: “It is good to be starting on site after many months of planning. This is such a good opportunity to create an outstanding boutique hotel right in the heart of Bath, one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations, and Hotel Indigo is just the right brand."

Work has already taken place at the properties with new rooms, restaurant, bar and gym​, added to the buildings.
