Top 10 New Year's Eve price hikes: UK Cities ranked
Trivago’s data revealed that UK-based users of its hotel booking website are happy to pay an average of £154 for their New Year’s hotel stay, and that they are likely to stay at their chosen destination for five nights.
Denise Bartlett, UK public relations, Trivago, said that prices are increasing year-on-year.
“Although it is normal for hoteliers to increase their prices for the popular New Year period, these price hikes seem be growing on a yearly basis. Last year, our data showed that hotel prices in Edinburgh were up to 146 per cent – this year, this figure has increased to 332 per cent,” she said.
“The city break is by far the most popular option this New Year, with only one winter sun destination (Tenerife) featuring in the top ten international destinations. Similarly, in the UK travellers are heading to the largest cities, with only one non-city destination in the top ten.”
