Bodeans is to open its seventh London restaurant in Covent Garden.

The barbecue smokehouse brand will launch an ‘intimate’ 60-cover restaurant on the former site of Russel Norman’s Mishkin’s deli on Catherine Street on 1 April.

Owner Andre Blais and executive chef Richard Coates said they were using the opening to trial a series of ‘exciting’ new dishes inspired by their ‘barbecue pilgrimage’ to Kansas City earlier this year.

They will sit alongside ‘old favourites’ on the menu with prosecco and beer on tap.

“Our return to the Midwest in January made us more determined than ever to bring authentic Kansas City-style barbecue to London’s thriving food scene,” said Blais.

“It’s where it all started for us, so to receive such a warm welcome from some of the best barbecue establishments in the world was truly humbling.

“When we landed back in London we had a brand new venue, a head full of truly exciting menu concepts and a band of newly acquired stateside friends.”

Bodean's goes south

Blais told BigHospitality’s sister site M&C Allegra Foodservice earlier this week that he was actively looking for venues for Bodean’s to make its regional debut.

The restaurateur is aiming to give Bodean’s a national presence by creating a cluster of restaurants in the south and is considering venues in Brighton and St Albans.

The barbecue brand is also planning to head north, where Blais told M&C he was interested in Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds and Edinburgh.

Since founding Bodean’s in 2002 Blais has opened restaurants in Balham, Clapham, Tower Hill, Fulham, Soho and most recently City Road.
