  • Dishoom has topped a list of the UK's 100 favourite restaurantts,​ with Hawksmoor, Tayyabs, Yauatcha and Franco Manca rounding out the top five. Over three-quarters of the list were 'affordable' restaurants, with dishes costing up to £25.
  • It's getting easier eating green with restaurants adding more vegetarian dishes to their menus in response to a growing number of diners eating less meat.​ Almost three in ten people have reduced the amount of meat they eat in the past year, while one in ten are considering ditching it altogether.
  • The Queen herself was on hand to present the 2016 Gold Service Scholarship Award​ to Jennifer Santner, restaurant manager at Fenchurch restaurant at London's Sky Garden. Her Majesty - who is patron of the award - praised the competition for 'raising the profile of hospitality in the UK'.
  • Leon, Abokado and other restaurants signed up to Jamie Oliver's voluntary sugar tax have raised £50,000 to build free public water fountains​ in some of the most deprived areas of the UK. However, there was less sweet news for those calling for a nationwide tax with David Cameron reportedly vetoing the plans this week.
