The Malmaison Hotel du Vin Group has been given the green light to convert two listed buildings in Stratford-upon-Avon into a Hotel du Vin. 

Plans to create the 48-bedroom hotel were approved by Stratford District Council yesterday allowing work to start on two Georgian buildings on Rother Street. 

Development of the Grade II listed buildings will be carried out by S Harrison in partnership with Stratford Town Trust and will include a Bistro du Vin, meeting and private dining rooms and a banqueting room to seat 80. Its opening will create 45 full time and 20 part time jobs. 

Malmaison Hotel du Vin Group CEO Paul Roberts said: “We are extremely excited about opening Hotel du Vin in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon. More investigation work is set to be carried out on the site before building work starts. Construction is expected to be completed in time for a summer 2017 opening.

Planning confirmation comes as the Malmaison Hotel du Vin Group, part of Frasers Hospitality Group, enters a period of significant growth. The company acquired four hotels​ from Swire Properties in December and has started a major investment programme in its existing estate.
