Aparthotel operator Staycity is adding another 125 apartments to its London Heathrow site as part of the company's European expansion plans.

The company, led by CEO and founder Tom Walsh, is planning to grow from 1,000 apartments to 3,500 over the next two years with new sites planned for London's Covent Garden and York in the UK.

“We have had a high level of interest in Heathrow since we opened,” said Walsh. “There is a strong demand from those travelling in and out of Heathrow as well as those taking the mainline rail out of London Paddington and people working with or visiting the many businesses in the area.”

Staycity London Heathrow's expansion into its neighbouring property, which will give it a total of 269 studios and one and two-bedroom apartments, also includes the addition of a guest lounge and café on the ground floor and breakfast area and terrace on its podium level.

The ground floor café, open to residents and non-residents, will sell tea and coffee, breakfast and light lunches. Heathrow is only the second site to have a dedicated lounge and cafe area.

Earlier this month Staycity opened 170 new apartments in Birmingham’s Newhall Square, the company’s second site in the city.
