The final day of the competition was the ‘Desserts Challenge’ and kicked off with a presentation from Danielle Cartney and Mike Brown from Nestlé Professional’s Sweet Food team on marketing.
The presentation was followed by a masterclass led by development pastry chef and former Toque d’Or contestant, Thomas Leatherbarrow (pictured).
He said “When I took part in Toque, I remember it being quite nerve-wracking but it was well worth it. It gave me a really good grounding and a real insight into the different elements of the industry and ultimately helps you to find your pathway for your career.
“It’s definitely inspirational taking part in a competition seeing how different aspects of the industry can change in a short space of time. When you see Toque d’Or on (someone's) CV, whether they’ve been in the final 10 or 20 or whatever, they’ve seen the whole round of experience.”
