Hospitality firms feature in Sunday Times Profit Track 100 list

Hospitality firms including Brewdog and Bill’s have been named some of the most profitable businesses in the UK by the Sunday Times.

The Profit Track 100 ranks Britain’s private companies with the fastest-growing profits over the last three years.

Scottish craft brewers Brewdog​ came tenth after annual profits rose 120 per cent in the year ending December 2014, with latest sales hitting £45m.

Starwood-owned Principal Hotels​ ranked 15th​ after profits rose 105 per cent in the year ending November 2014, with sales of £308m.

The Harrogate-based group runs 48 sites across the UK, and is investing £50m in transforming Martins Bank in Liverpool in to the city's first five-star hotel.

Bill’s Restaurants​ saw continued success in 23rd​ place, with profits rising 91.5 per cent and sales hitting £89.9m.

Krispy Kreme​ doughnuts and supplier JJ Food Service​ ranked 55th​ and 70th​ respectively, with profits up 73.5 per cent and 66.3 per cent.

Finally the 47-strong sushi chain Wasabi​ ranked 80th​, with profits up 61 per cent and latest sales hitting £70m.

To appear on the list businesses must report total profits of between £3m and £40m, total sales between £20m and £350m, and average three year profit growth of between 50 per cent and 180 per cent per annum.
