The 60-bedroom hotel was one of four the company acquired from Swire Properties Hotels Holdings at the end of last year in a deal worth £36m.
Malmaison Cheltenham will become the 15th hotel to open under the Malmaison brand, following Hotel Seattle in Brighton which started its re-brand last month.
Malmaison COO Scott Harper said: “The Montpellier Chapter is full of character, and we are extremely excited to be bringing the Malmaison brand to this iconic hotel. Cheltenham is a beautiful and atmospheric city in the West Country. The perfect location to introduce the Malmaison brand.”
Changes will include introducing the Malmaison food and drink menus at the hotel's restaurant and bar, including the Think Mal It's Friday concept and the a la carte, prix fixe and Sunday lunch unlimited menus.
The Cheltenham hotel is the third of the four former Swire Properties hotels to be rebranded. Its Exeter hotel the Magdalen Chapter will become a Hotel du Vin while the company is yet to announce which brand the Avon Gorge Hotel will become.
