Twin brothers Livio and Lorenzo Belpassi, who have run a meatball truck at London's Old Spitalfields Market for the last year, are planning to open a restaurant in Tooting.

The 40-cover restaurant, which will continue to specialise in meatballs, will open on Tooting High Street next month. 

Its menu will be built around a focal point of meatballs and homemade sauces, served in a sandwich, or on a base of polenta or pasta. It will also include a selection of cicchetti, salumi and daily specials and desserts. 

The Belpassi brothers, whose parents are Italian, formed the Belpassi Bros meatball company in 2014 after a visit to Rome where they discovered the dish that would become their speciality. 

They took part in a month-long House of Peroni pop-up, a partnership with the Doodle Bar and contributed a menu to Bites, Camera, Action at Union Street Café in London before buying their vintage Fiat van and setting up the food truck in Old Spitalfields Market in 2015.
