West Berkshire Brewery has announced plans to launch its first ‘urban pub’ in London after overreaching its £4m funding target.

The group has secured a three-storey, 4,450 sq.ft venue to open Shillibeer’s in Islington.

The pub will serve a new beer and food pairing menu, using the brewer’s latest Renegade Brewery range, and feature an on-site deli.

It follows a record week for the beer makers, who have signed an agreement to construct a £3m custom-built brewery featuring a shop, bar and beer garden just a few hundred yards from their current Yattendon site.

David Bruce, West Berkshire Brewery chairman, said: “For the first time we can proudly serve our beers directly to customers. Our pub will be full of atmosphere and showcase a stunning range of beers and ciders from all over the world, including those we make ourselves. It will really put our brewery on the map.”

The firm received £2.95m in EIS funding last year, and has since secured £1m through Asset Match.

It is currently aiming to raise £1.5m through a Seedrs crowdfunding campaign by 14 June, of which the current total stands at £1,380.

The group is aiming to operate its new brewery from early 2017.
