The ground-floor, 110-cover site at 437 Coldharbour Lane, will offer a wide range of cocktails alongside a 200-strong rum selection, and 40 house cocktails, plus dishes from two Bertha charcoal and wood-fired ovens in the open kitchen. There will also be an outside terrace area with 20 covers.
The site will be the third in the group, after the first opened in 2013 in west London’s Westbourne Park, and the second opened in Kingly Court, Soho in 2015.
New dishes on the Caribbean-inspired menu will include Grilled Red Snapper with Mixed Pepper Escovitch and Avocado salsa, and a Jerk Fried Chicken Burger with spicy lime salt, scotch bonnet mayo, Swamp hot sauce and house pickles.
The group’s signature ‘house favourites’ will also be on the menu, including the Jerk Chicken Bowl ‒ three pieces of jerk boneless chicken with jerk gravy, coconut black eye pea rice and homemade slaw ‒ and the 18-hour slow cooked Pork Belly Ribs with jerk BBQ sauce and toasted coconut flakes.
Staff for the site will be employed in collaboration with local business development project Brixton BID (Business Improvement District) and Lambeth College, in order to help the restaurant connect with the local community and operate as part of the neighbourhood.
The restaurant will also sell bottles of its own sauces, including the Jerk BBQ, Swamp Hot Sauce, Scotch Bonnet Mayo, and the Ginger, Lime and Herb Aïoli.
