Paul Brackley joins Shangri-La at The Shard as general manager

Brackley, who has 30 years' experience in the industry, takes over management of the 202-bedroom luxury hotel at London Bridge from executive vice president and manager Darren Gearing. 

“I am delighted to be joining Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London as general manager at this exciting time, with the hotel further strengthening its position in London’s competitive market,” he said. “I look forward to working with the team to deliver the world-renowned Shangri-La service and premium standards of luxury to our discerning guests and partners."

A Master Innholder, Brackley held management positions in InterContinental Hotel Group at Crowne Plaza London - The City, Taj Hotels Palaces & Resorts at Taj 51 Buckingham Gate, Suites & Residences and  St James Court Hotel before going on to open the 73-bedroom Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair as managing director. 

Gearing joined the hotel in 2013 having worked for the Shangri-La group since 1990. It is not known where he has moved to.
