Hong Kong-based hotel company The Harilela Group is set to unveil its new global travel hotel brand - The Hari - in London's Belgravia next month.

The company, which owns and operates 17 hotels around the world, will launch the brand at Belgraves, previously operated by Commune Hotels under their Thompson brand, on 31 August.

The 85-bedroom hotel will be the first of a number planned to open under The Hari brand, with a second due to launch in Hong Kong in 2019. The luxury brand will aim to deliver 'impeccable service' and bring 'relaxed elegance to the modern hotel stay.'

Harilela Hotels chairman and CEO Aron Harilela, whose company operates hotels under different brands, including Holiday Inn, said creating his own hotel brand was the 'culmination of a lifelong dream'.

"Global travellers are deserving of a more layered and singular hotel experience which our team will deliver," he said. "The Hari will wholly encapsulate my values and reflect everything I love when it comes to design and service.”

The property at Chesham Place will retain its interiors designed by Tara Bernerd. Art works by photographer Mario Testino and artist Tracey Emin will also feature.

The hotel's restaurant Pont St will close in October with a new modern Italian restaurant set to open in its place. Other communal spaces will include The Terrace featuring a retractable roof and living walls and The Lounge, which will serve drinks and afternoon tea.
