Italian restaurant group Strada is to launch new apprenticeship schemes aimed at boosting staff retention this summer.

The 12-month courses will run across the chain’s 31 restaurants and be open to all 697 Strada employees.

The company has teamed up with private hospitality training provider Lifetime Training to create tailored programmes for front-of-house and kitchen staff, senior chefs and general managers.

Esher Williams, head of people at Strada, said: “We want Strada to be recognised as an employer who cares about its team and invests in their future.

“The new development programme will dovetail our internal training calendar and sit within our new training infrastructure, boosting staff retention by delivering increased job satisfaction for our employees.”

The qualifications on offer include Food & Beverage Level 2, Food Production & Cooking Level 2, Kitchen Services Level 2, Team Leading Level 2 and Hospitality Supervision & Leadership Level 3.

Julie Proctor, hospitality accounts director at Lifetime Training, said: “This is a new partnership for Lifetime and we’re delighted to be working with such a highly respected business. We’re looking forward to developing the Strada team, and further building the brand.”

Strada was sold by Tragus Group to Sun Capital Partners for £37m in 2014.
