Punch has announced that it is freezing the prices on its spirits for the second year in a row to help support publicans.

It follows the pub operator’s decision in March 2016 to absorb the duty increases on wine and high strength sparkling cider after George Osborne failed to cap rises in the Budget.

Spirits prices will be frozen until June/July 2017, meaning the cost of Jagermeister, Jack Daniels, Bacardi Carta Blanca and Smirnoff Red Vodka has now stayed the same for three years running.

John Healy, commercial director at Punch, said: “We’re always looking for ways to support our publicans and provide them with that little bit extra, which is why we have decided to freeze spirits prices for a second year. This will help our publicans maximise the profit opportunities available to them on these products.”

Punch runs over 3,250 leased and tenanted pubs nationwide.

Earlier this year the operator launched a partnership with Just Eat to allow customers to have their favourite takeaway delivered straight to their pub table.
