Whitbread is to open a flagship branch of its steak-focused all-day dining restaurant Bar & Block at London's King's Cross.

The second site under the brand will open in November and follows the success of the first in Birmingham, which opened in March.

Bar & Block King's Cross will take over the 5,522 sq ft site on York Road, currently occupied by Whitbread's Thyme restaurant and will open all day, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with steaks hand-cut to order.

The 212-cover site will include a 68-cover central bar, open kitchen and stand-alone and booth seating. It will also serve a range of craft beers and ciders from Brew Dog alongside cocktails and wine.

David Murdin, chief operating officer of brand developments for Whitbread Restaurants, said: “We’re very excited to be launching our flagship site in London following its success in Birmingham. We’re keen to develop the brand further, and aim to have several venues open by the end of this financial year.”
