The opening of The Grill at McQueen, a new steak restaurant from two former Hawksmoor chefs at Shoreditch venue McQueen has been delayed by nearly a month.

The 50-cover site, from former Hawksmoor head chef Richard Sandiford and chef Richard James, was originally due to open on 4 October, with a soft launch the week before.

The site will now begin its soft launch on Tuesday 18 October until Saturday 22 October, officially opening after that.

Named after the movie star of the same name, The Grill at McQueen will serve a menu using locally-sourced ingredients, with bread coming from local Hackney bakery The Dusty Knuckle, alongside a wide selection of steaks, plus a drinks list including wines, bourbons and whiskeys, and cocktails.

As executive head chef, Sandiford will be in a key consultancy role, while James will oversee the kitchen as the head chef.

Sandiford joined Huw Gott and Will Beckett's seven-strong steak-focused restaurant group Hawksmoor in 2011 where he worked as head chef of its Knightsbridge restaurant for five years before leaving to focus on his own project with James.
