Construction on the four-storey, £20m development on the riverside near York city centre is expected to begin in 2017, and create boutique-hotel style accommodation in an aparthotel setting.
The new venue is likely to create at least 20 new jobs, including porters, cleaners, and concierge.
Roomzzz aparthotel apartments feature a kitchen, a separate living area with sofas and flat-screen TV, a working/eating area, and free Wi-Fi. The hotels also offer the ‘Essentialzzz’ convenience store in Reception, which sells milk, toiletries, snacks, and drinks, and the Grab & Go store, which offers fresh pastries, muffins, fruit, and hot and cold drinks from 6.30-10am.
Mark Walton, chief operations officer of Roomzzz Aparthotels, said: “We are delighted that after months of hard work by the contractors and the planners, we’re finally underway with the project to bring Roomzzz to York.
“York is a vibrant destination city and fits perfectly into the Roomzzz family. The riverside location is incredible and our exquisite apartments and suites, which provide guests with more space and freedom, will be the perfect location for our wide range of clientele looking to experience all York has to offer.”
Roomzzz Aparthotels currently operates five locations across the UK: Leeds, Chester, Manchester, Newcastle, and Nottingham.
