Drake's rebrands as The Clock House
Drake’s restaurant in Ripley, Surrey, has changed its name to The Clock House after regaining its three AA Rosette listing.

The site had its rating suspended following the departure of former chef-owner Steve Drake last August, though his ex-wife Serina continues to run the business.

The restaurant also lost its Michelin Star in the 2017 Guide in the wake of the change.

Chef Fred Clapperton, who joined Drake’s in 2012, took over as head chef in September.

Serina Drake said: "Our distinctive Georgian building, set back from the High Street in Ripley, has always had The Clock House as part of its address, so it was an obvious choice.

"Last autumn we appointed a very talented new head chef, Fred Clapperton, who had already been with us for a number of years. He has really ‘stepped up to the plate' since his promotion, and his food is receiving rave reviews.

“Our regular customers have been very supportive and complimentary. The front of house team remains the same, so - apart from our name change - nothing else is different."

Meanwhile, Steve Drake is to launch his new restaurant Sorrel in Dorking later this spring.
