Former Bibendum chef Tam Storrar has been appointed chef director and shareholder at the Blanchette French restaurant group in London.

Storrar began his career in hotel restaurants before joining Bibendum and working his way up to senior sous chef.

He left to take up a position as head chef at Blanchette’s debut Soho site, which opened with the backing of The Salt Yard Group’s co-founder Simon Mullins and chef director Ben Tish, in 2013.

Storrar was promoted to executive chef for the launch of a second restaurant, Blanchette East, on Brick Lane last year.

Blanchette is run by brothers Maxime, Yannis and Mailk Alary, who named the restaurant group after their mother.

“The brother family is bigger and glad to have Tam as our new business partner, he has been instrumental to the success of Blanchette and his appointment comes as a well deserved addition to the family,” says Blanchette managing director Maxime Alary.

Speaking to BigHospitality last year Alary said the siblings were keen to eventually open a third restaurant, but that it was unlikely to be under the Blanchette brand.
