Adam Reid at The French restaurant in Manchester opens

Adam Reid at The French, located in Manchester’s The Midland Hotel, has opened following the premature departure of Simon Rogan from the restaurant last year.

Reid, who has been Rogan’s right-hand man at The French since it opened in 2013, ​has taken control of the restaurant and introduced a new menu.

It serves a six and nine-course tasting menu (dinner only) with dishes that include a steamed bun filled with soy-cooked trotter and belly and pickled onion; salt-aged duck with beetroot, mushroom and pickled cherry juices; and custard tart with pink rhubarb and ginger and malt ice cream.

At lunch there is also an à la carte menu of snacks and small and larger plates, such as saffron pasta with turnip butter and chicken skin; and artichoke, smoked eel, hazelnut and chicory.

Reid’s winning dessert from the 2016 series of TV programme Great British Menu - Golden Empire - is also on the menu.

The relaunched restaurant now features a chefs counter with seven stools at which guests can have a drink and eat. Diners are encouraged to have at least one course at the counter during dinner.
