MeatLiquor has teamed up with Deliveroo to open its first delivery-only kitchen in Canary Wharf.

The new site opened on Monday and offers faster delivery times than from the group's standard restaurants, with a smaller menu based on a 'greatest hits' of best-selling items.

Diners have a choice of just eight beef, chicken and veggie burgers, five sides, and several soft drinks.

It is the first ‘virtual’ site for the brand, which operates ten restaurants in London, Bristol, Brighton and Leeds.

“Our busiest site is in East Dulwich, which is really residential, and we do in excess of £10k just on delivery,” Scott Collins, co-founder of MeatLiquor, told BigHospitality’s sister site MCA.

“Canary Wharf has the same radius of one and a half miles, but think about how high it is with all the tower blocks.

“Deliveroo are quite clever by choosing the areas that are under-served by restaurants, which is where they are putting all these kitchens.”

He added that MeatLiquor could ‘definitely’ open more delivery-only sites if the first was successful.

The Canary Wharf opening is part of Roobox, one of Deliveroo’s remote kitchens, which are designed to help restaurants expand without the expense of opening an additional site.

A growing number of operators are launching delivery-only restaurants to save costs, including K10, Clockjack and the Sethi family’s Motu Indian Kitchen.
