Coffee and wine bar concept Notes is to open further sites in London after securing a loan from OakNorth bank.

OakNorth, which backed Leon in a £19m funding package last year, has finalised a £600,000 financing deal with the coffee group.

Notes will use the funding to open two further sites at the Nova development in Victoria and Angel Court in the City later this year.

The group, which opens as a café by day and wine and charcuterie bar by night, is planning an ‘aggressive’ expansion in the capital.

It grew from two to six sites in 2015-16 and added a central production facility that could supply up to 14 more cafes.

“We are a very ambitious company that wants to continue scaling at pace,” says Edward Halfon, director at Notes.

Notes also supplies over one tonne of coffee per month to independent coffee shops in the UK and Europe, as well as running a subscription-based webshop for the home-brew market.

The group currently operates cafes in Trafalgar Square, Moorgate, Kings Cross and at The Gherkin, as well as two sites in Canary Wharf.
