Chef Ben Tish is to leave the Salt Yard restaurant group to pursue a new solo venture.

Tish joined the company in 2006 as head chef of Salt Yard in Fitzrovia, before taking on the role of executive chef and then chef director across the group.

He will leave his role after 11 years at the end of March.

Dan Sherlock, who has been head chef of Salt Yard for the last three years, will take on the position of executive chef, overseeing the company’s five London restaurants.

“I’m incredibly proud of my time at Salt Yard Group, and the talented team of chefs we have built over the last decade,” says Tish.

“The food scene has changed a lot in that time – I’m ready for a fresh challenge, and my next project will reflect that.”

Salt Yard Group opened its eponymous first site in 2005, and has since launched Italian site Veneta and tapas restaurants Dehesa, Opera Tavern and Ember Yard.

“It has been a fantastic decade with Ben and we are all very excited about his new venture,” says Simon Mullins, co-founder of Salt Yard Group.

“Ben’s departure is also a great opportunity for our extremely talented chefs to step in to the spotlight and gain the credit they deserve.”
