Brighton's Chilli Pickle restaurant hits crowdfunding target

Acclaimed Brighton Indian restaurant The Chilli Pickle has hit its £700,000 crowdfunding target to help expand its business across the south of England.

A total of 42 investors helped push the project to its goal after founders Alun and Dawn Sperring launched the Growthdeck campaign earlier this month.

The Sperrings are planning to use the funding to launch four new restaurants in ‘affluent market towns’ in the south east and are considering Tunbridge Wells, Worthing and Winchester.

There are plans for the first new site to open this summer in an as-yet undisclosed location, subject to the completion of contracts.

The team is also working with Deliveroo to launch a delivery-only kitchen at its upcoming Deliveroo Editions site in Hove.

Chilli Pickle’s original 115-cover Brighton restaurant made its name offering authentic, regional Indian dishes. As well as regularly featuring on Restaurant Magazine’s National Restaurant Awards list of the top 100 restaurants in the UK, it has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand for eight years.
