Online booking platform Bookatable by Michelin and M Restaurants have collaborated to create a new chef competition, called The M & Bookatable Young Chef of the Year Awards.

Open to chefs 25 years old or under working in a professional kitchen in the UK, the competition has been created to nurture tomorrow’s chef stars.

Entrants will have to create a four-course menu that represents their own personality and style, with the top 50 entrants invited to M Victoria to cook their signature dish and present their menu to the panel of judges. Ten finalists will be chosen and mentored by M executive chef Michael Reid and M Restaurant founder Martin Williams to tweak their menu for the Bookatable M Takeover, which will take place at M’s Victoria Street restaurant for 10 nights from 25 July - 5 August 2017.

The chosen young chef will win a 10-night ‘pop up’ serving their winning menu at M Victoria Street from 16th – 30th August and a trip to Reims, France, as well as taking home the title of M & Bookatable Young Chef of the Year 2017.

The judging panel includes Phil Howard; Richard Bainbridge; Sarah Durdin Robertson, series food producer at Optomen); as well as Reid and Williams.

Chefs wanting to enter the competition should send their suggested menus to youngchefoftheyear@mrestaurants.co.uk.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 31 May.
