Fast-growing steak and lobster group Bourgee is to open its first airside restaurant at London Southend Airport this weekend.

Bourgee Bites – Bar – Luxe Lounge will feature a champagne bar and tables serving tapas-style plates inspired by the group’s signature dishes.

It will be Bourgee's fourth overall restaurant, following openings in Southend-On-Sea (2014), Chelmsford (2016) and its first outside Essex in Bury St Edmunds earlier this month.

The group bills itself as offering ‘affordable luxury’, with steaks starting at £20, a whole 1kg lobster for £49, and a set evening menu of £17.50 for two courses.

“We’ve always believed that high quality food and drink shouldn’t be limited to those in central London, or come with an over inflated price tag in a stuffy setting,” says Bourgee director James Welling.

The group is aiming to become a household name in the UK with a target of launching up to 15 sites outside London.

A Norwich restaurant is planned to open later this year.
