Opening in June, the chef's new Gallery Café will use produce sourced from an on-site kitchen garden, while cured meats and bread will be made in-house.
The 100-cover site will feature table service and open 10am-5pm daily, with late-night dining until 9pm on Thursdays.
McTague was formerly head chef at Manchester’s acclaimed fine dining restaurant Aumbry, and is a director at the Real Junk Food Project (RJFP) food waste restaurant.
The children’s menu at the gallery will be available on a ‘pay as you feel’ basis, created in partnership with RJFP.
“The café is in one of the most beautiful and iconic buildings in Manchester, right at the heart of the city,” says McTague.
“We’ll be cooking classic dishes such as quiche and Welsh Rarebit; griddle scones, Chelsea Buns, lardy cake and crumpets; and reviving the Breville toastie.”
McTague worked with Heston Blumenthal for four years and also cooked at Manchester’s 4244 Edge Street pop-up.
She appeared on Great British Menu in 2013 and 2014 representing the North West.
