Tom Kerridge joins top chefs backing Gary Usher's Wreckfish
Chef Tom Kerridge is to host a guest chef night at Gary Usher’s upcoming Wreckfish restaurant if the project hits its £200,000 crowdfunding goal.

Usher launched the Kickstarter campaign earlier this month and has so far raised over £143,000 from 900 backers with nine days to go.

If successful, he hopes to open the 90-cover restaurant in Liverpool in September.

Tickets to the six-course dinner with Kerridge, who runs the two-Michelin-starred Hand & Flowers pub in Marlow, went on sale at £150 a head and sold out within 15 minutes, raising £11,000 for the campaign.

Other top chefs including Daniel Clifford and Michael O’Hare are also hosting dinners to raise money for the project.

“The support we have received for Wreckfish has been incredible, not only from people who know us, but from the entire industry,” says Usher.

Wreckfish is the latest Kickstarter project for the chef, who has crowdfunded over £150,000 in the last two year to open Hispi in Chorlton and Burnt Truffle in Heswall.

Usher is also behind Chester’s Sticky Walnut, which opened in 2011.
