The single shipping container restaurant will serve six flavours of still homemade lemonade alongside a six-strong range of burgers. Lemonade flavours include watermelon and rosemary; strawberry and basil; and cardamom and vanilla.
The concept is the brainchild of Bristol-based chef Alex Hayes whose CV includes Mexican street food restaurant El Guaco, cafe Rebel Roll and a number of event catering gigs. The St Werburger burger served at Rebel Roll – a double-chuck patty with Monterey Jack, confit shallots, smoked bacon and caper aioli, chipotle and tomato relish – made a number of the city's best burger lists.
The burgers at Lemonade are US in style and made with locally baked brioche buns. “The menu is eclectic and everything aside from the buns is made in house,” says Hayes, “We’ve tried to keep prices affordable and in line with the rest of the venues here - the lemonade is from £2 and burgers are no more than £7.50.
Lemonade is the only restaurant planned for the second phase of Cargo 2 and will trade close to Polpo’s NYC-inspired Spuntino and Josh Eggleton’s Salt & Malt fish and chip shop.
