Former The Star Inn at Harome chef Adam Thur has been appointed head chef at Goldsborough Hall, near Knaresborough.

The privately owned hall was home to Princess Mary in the 1920’s but now offers five-star accommodation and opened its dining room to both residents and non-residents for the first time in 2015.

The property currently holds one AA-rosette, but Goldsborough Hall’s owner Mark Oglesby says he hopes Thur will elevate it to ‘the highest level’.

Hungarian-born Thur joins the team from the Michelin-starred The Star Inn at Harome and York’s The Star Inn The City, where he was senior sous chef.

He is planning to develop new dishes using produce from the surrounding grounds and kitchen gardens.

“I am looking forward to having the opportunity to develop creative menus, inspired by such an amazing rural location,” says Thur.
