The restaurant has opened the 14-cover private dining area in a space adjacent to Joe’s Bar, which was added to the restaurant last year.
The walnut panelled dining area allows guests to “dine amongst the wines” from Joe’s Bar with each lunch and dinner tailored specifically to the guests’ online requests.
Cantina was initially intended to be the wine room for The Seahorse, before the decision was made by owners Mitch Tonks and Mat Prowse to “put a table in and a small kitchen and create a private dining room”.
The online aspect will allow guests to have more control over the menu, says Tonks.
“People can have a real personal, tailored experience. They can go online and choose their own menu with main courses like whole suckling pigs, rib of prime beef or Pyrenean lamb, whole roast turbot, loads of seafood, fish roasted Majorcan style”.
The Seahorse, located on the River Dart in Dartmouth, will this year celebrate its 10the anniversary. It has previously won the Observer’s ‘Best UK Restaurant’ award and regularly appears in the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards list of the UK’s top 100 restaurants.
