Parisian soba noodle specialist Yen is launching in London on 28 November, fronted by a strong Japanese kitchen team.

Located in the new 190 Strand development, the Japanese restaurant will serve a selection of dishes alongside its buckwheat noodles, which will be handmade twice daily in the traditional way.

Noodles will be made by Maruno Hidenori & Katsuki Sakurai, both of whom have trained with the ‘master of soba’ Takahashi Kunihiro, in Japan. A bespoke glass box will house the chefs as they work, as a play on an open kitchen.

Executive chef Hiyama Hiroki brings experience from a variety of Michelin-starred restaurants including 3-Michelin starred Ristorante Da Vittorio in Italy. Head Sushi Chef will be Akinori Yasuda, who was head sushi chef at Zuma for six years.

Soba will be available to order either cold with a variety of dips, grilled meats or tempuras, or served in hot soup with toppings. The menu will also include a substantial sushi selection, and a selection of robata and tempura dishes, such as Yen’s signature oyster and courgette flower tempura and Wagyu steak with Ponzu sauce.

There will also be an option of an omakase menu, where guests are served a blind menu, directed by the chef.

Drinks, curated by Head Bartender, Alex Frattini, will comprise cocktails, wines and spirits, and a variety of Japanese sakes, beers, shochu, plum wines and whiskies.

The restaurant’s Parisian counterpart was in the fashionable St Germain de Pres district, and is recommended in the Michelin Guide.

Yen London is part of Onward Holdings Co.,Ltd. the Japanese fashion company with worldwide brands including Jil Sander and Joseph.
