Shaun Rankin 'extremely sad' to cut ties with Ormer Jersey

Shaun Rankin has spoken of his disappointment at parting ways with the Michelin-starred restaurant he opened in 2013 after his ideas became 'incompatible' with those of a new shareholder group. Ormer Jersey's owners said Monday they had removed Rankin from the board and were 'terminating' their commercial relationship with him. The chef will now be based in London to continue his work at Ormer Mayfair.

Deliveroo begins targeting wet-led pubs

The online delivery giant is heading down the pub after trialling its service with bars that don't have a proper kitchen. Deliveroo says it is hoping to formally expand the scheme next year after it noticed a rise in people ordering food to their local.

Mary-Ellen McTague to launch crowdfunding drive for Manchester restaurant

Three years after the closure of her acclaimed Manchester restaurant Aumbry, the chef is turning to crowdfunding to open a new site. McTague is teaming up with baker Sophie Yeoman and designer Soo Wilkinson to launch The Creameries restaurant and bakery in Chorlton in 2018. The trio have already raised £60,000 to transform the site, but are hoping to raise another £20,000 to buy equipment. The crowdfunding page goes live on Monday (27 November), so watch this space.

Grillstock barbecue group falls in to administration

Bristol-based Grillstock is the latest restaurant group to fall in to administration, four years after launching its first permanent restaurant. BigHospitality​ understands the brand's five sites in Bristol, London, Leicester and Bath remain open while a buyer is sought for the business.

Aiden Byrne to leave Manchester House for D&D London

Chef Aiden Byrne is leaving Manchester House in January to take the reins at D&D's upcoming 20 Stories restaurant at Manchester's No.1 Spinningfields development. Byrne opened the £3m site with living Ventures in 2013 and it was long-tipped for a Michelin star, but never managed to win the award. Head chef Nathaniel Tofan will continue to lead the kitchen after being promoted earlier this year.
