The boutique group will rebrand the Avon Gorge Hotel, which overlooks the city’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, as The Avon Gorge by Hotel du Vin from spring 2018.
The company says a major investment programme is underway to restore the historic property, and it is working to create a design that reflects ‘quirky British humour’.
Josie Simcox, who most recently worked with Malmaison in London, has been appointed general manager to take the hotel in to the ‘next phase’ of its history.
The growth of Hotel du Vin, which is also set to open in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2018, comes after it was sold alongside Malmaison to Frasers Hospitality for £363m in 2015.
Frasers said at the time it was hoping to build on the brand’s success with ‘future development’ in the UK, Europe and Asia.
The company acquired four sites, including its first Bristol property to be brought under the Hotel du Vin brand, in a £36m deal later that year.
Hotel du Vin currently operates 17 boutique hotels across the UK.
