Hilton has revealed plans to launch a new 18-storey hotel with ‘extensive’ restaurant spaces in London’s Stratford.

The company has signed a franchise agreement with The Gantry Group, a joint venture between Black Friar Holdings and a £1.1bn institutional investor, to open The London Gantry opposite Stratford International train station.

Set to launch in 2020, the 18-storey hotel will feature 285 rooms, restaurants, and a sky bar with views across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the London skyline.

It will be the third UK hotel under Hilton’s ‘upper upscale’ Curio brand, joining the Trafalgar St James site and the Lincoln Plaza London – expected to open in 2018.

The £77m build contract has been awarded to Ardmore, the construction firm behind The Ned and Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square.

“Stratford is London’s fastest growing business and leisure district, and a major contributor to the capital’s economic growth, with 125,000 new jobs forecast to be created in East London by 2030,” says Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton.

“The legacy of the 2012 Summer Olympics is evident, with world class facilities in transport, entertainment, shopping and sport, all within walking distance of The Gantry London.”

The Gantry Group will operate the hotel.
