The Pig hotel group has revealed plans to open three further sites over the next two years.

The five-strong brand has acquired new properties in West Sussex, Kent and Cornwall at a combined cost of £30m.

The group is brainchild of Robin Hutson, the co-founder of Hotel du Vin, who launched the first Pig in Hampshire in 2011.

The newest addition to the Pig litter will be The Pig at Bridge Place, which will open in a 16th century manor house near Canterbury this autumn.

Its 28 guest rooms will be split between the main house, a restored gate lodge and seven huts made from repurposed materials from an island within the grounds.

It will be followed by The South Downs Pig, which will open in the Grade II-listed former Madehurst Lodge near Arundel in 2019, and The Pig at Harlyn Bay in Cornwall - which the group is hoping to open by summer 2019.

“We’ve had a great couple of years, with customers apparently loving what we do,” says Hutson, who is CEO of The Pig’s parent company Home Grown Hotels.

“Occupancy is in the mid 90%’s in our rural locations and we know from our guests they want more Pigs. After searching far and wide for truly unique properties, we really are over the moon about our new Piglets in Kent, Sussex and Cornwall, and can’t wait to get started on this new phase of our development.”

The new openings will mean there is a Pig in every south coast county in England.
